What do you think?

Will the lbs immediately start to pack on her hips? Or, even worse, maybe the avocado police will track her down and give her a violation for eating too much fat!

Ok, I’m being ridiculous, but SERIOUSLY I get asked questions like this all the time.

“I’m eating an avocado every day – is that nuts?”

“And speaking of nuts, won’t too many nuts make me fat?”

Don’t lie, you’ve wondered it too. So have I! I completely understand where this hesitation comes from {years and years of being told all fat is bad fat}, but it’s time we put an end to it.

So, if you run the other way in the face of an avocado or a handful of almonds, answer this:

What DO you fill up on if not avocados, walnuts, pecans or almonds?

Chips?… Crackers?… Candy?

My guess is it’s something far worse than a measly serving or two..or three.. of these delicious fruits {yes both avocados and nuts are fruits which grow on trees}.

So quit talking smack about the healthy stuff, will ya?

Avocados and nuts will fill you up and keep you from snacking on the not-so-healthy alternatives.

What about their high fat content? Well first of all, whether you like to hear it or not, you NEED fat, good fat. These plant based options are by FAR a healthier choice than just about any other source of fat available.

Why?

This is where a raw, plant based diet comes in. There is a huge difference between cooked fats and raw fats. Studies linking all types of disease {cancer, heart attacks, kidney failure, obesity} are studies done with cooked fats.

Raw plant fats, like avocados and nuts, actually have the opposite effect. Raw plant fats still contain the enzyme lipase, which is needed to digest fat and is destroyed in the cooking process.

Translation: you can eat two, three, four avocados per day and know this fat will be assimilated and digested properly, will support your body, and help you maintain a healthy weight {never mind maintain, I’ve actually lost weight since starting to eat healthy fat regularly}.

Still hesitant? Or are you already a die hard avocado eater?
